neckwear

i made a necklace. the pattern was from knitty.com. well, basically it was. i decided a couple of things from the get go.
  • i did not want it to look like yarn
  • i wanted it to be black
  • i was impatient and wouldn't spend more than an hour on it
  • so this was the result:
wanted lacy, got goth. i still think it's kinda sexy. here she is on a different background.

I think I'm in love - with your necklace from knitty!

What pattern is it please? (My computer refuses to go to knitty from your link at the moment for some reason. Probably more to do with the fact that it thinks it should be given a rest than anything wrong with your link - it's been temperamental like that for the past few days.)

Also, what yarn did you use, needle size and gauge?
When I have tried to knit lace in the past, it has never come out "lacy" - I think I haven't been using big enough needles.

oops. sorry janey, not your browser. i left the link empty. it's been fixed.

in regards to yarn, i used one stranded crochet cotton (so it was super thin) on size 7 needles. for the number of stitches, i followed version #2. more or less...

    Many thanks, kn.

I tried knitting the knecklace from knitty just before Christmas - with worsted yarn I think.
But it was in the wrong place - in the hallway of an elementary school, near the outside doors.
There were multiple Christmas concerts going on, so the doors kept opening and parents, etc. kept pouring in and out, with the little ones in tow. Brrrr!!
Maybe I'll give it another try, using crochet cotton this time AND in a quieter place. Hopefully I won't screw up the pattern as many times.

    Thanks again.
